Czech 98 22 refers to a rifle that was manufactured in Czechoslovakia between 1922 and 1950. It is also known as the Vz. 98/22, and it was an updated version of the Mauser Gewehr 98 rifle that was used during World War I. The Czech 98 22 was commonly used by the Czechoslovakian military, as well as by various paramilitary and police organizations. It is a bolt-action rifle that is chambered for 7.92x57mm Mauser ammunition, and it has a five-round internal magazine. In the late 1930s, the rifle was typically modified to use stripper clips. The Czech 98 22 was eventually replaced by the vz. 24 rifle, which was also based on the Mauser Gewehr 98 design. Today, the Czech 98 22 is primarily used as a hunting rifle or for historical reenactments.
